London, Google, & So Much More...
2023 has been filled with change, and it's not slowing down soon.
Dear Reader,
Let me see if I can quickly catch you up on all the transition that 2023 has brought with it…
I moved to London in mid-January
Started a new job at the beginning of February
Moved into my flat in March
Quit my job in April
And I have no idea exactly what May will bring…but I’m sure it won’t be boring
I recently posted a blog about my first few months in London, so I won’t repeat myself, except to say I love it here and am glad I made this move when I did.
I did start a job at Google. But very quickly it turned out to not be quite the right fit. Simply put…I joined right after 12000 layoffs that were a real blow to the company culture and found that it was not quite the center of excellence that we in tech have imagined it to be (to summarize in a word…waterfall). In the end, I was pouring energy into something that just wasn’t enjoyable or interesting.
The great news is that since I’m here on an unsponsored Visa, I am not in a rush to find another job. I can wait and look for something that really suits me. Something with a strong customer focus and an ambitious pace where I can really use my skills.
In the meantime, I am focusing on my coaching business… Leah Farmer Coaching.
I’ve been coaching a few people on the side for the last 2 years, but now I’ve got a cadre of professionals who I am really enjoying working with to solve problems, move roadblocks and help them unpack what they really want.
I’ve updated my website to include information on coaching and a place to book a free consultation. And I’ve also started an Instagram and a TikTok (god help me!) specifically for the coaching space. In the coming months I also hope to interview a few of my favorite people and share that with all of you on these different venues! :)
See you soon!
