The accidental theme of this week was CREATIVITY!
I am loving how these themes are showing up and this one was so much fun to watch and participate in. I have been reading about creativity and art and the impact both have on the human brain. (Spoiler Alert: It’s a lot!)
I’ve also seen a lot of creativity questions popping up in my Coaching practice this week. People want to be creative. And also people are afraid they aren’t creative. But science and medicine say otherwise. Some of the benefits of using our creativity include:
Improved mood: Engaging in creative activities has been shown to boost mood and reduce anxiety and depression.
Enhanced cognitive function: Creativity has been linked to improved cognitive function, including improved memory, attention, and problem-solving skills.
Increased resilience: Creativity can help us to develop greater adaptability and resilience in the face of challenges and adversity.
Improved physical health: Engaging in creative activities has been linked to improved physical health, such as reduced stress levels and improved immune function.
Increased social connection: Engaging in creative activities helps us to connect with others and build social relationships, which can provide additional benefits for well-being.
Sounds like a revolution to me!
One of the many things that creative endeavors can help us navigate is dealing with change. I see how hard change is on so many of my clients and the stress from change can really distract us from good health. But change is coming…it always is. Change impacts all of us…but our ability to accept it is a critical first step.
In the coming weeks, I’ll continue to talk through the steps needed to navigate change well. But for now, if you need a permission slip for spending more time on Creativity, you can find one here. This is a good use of your energy, particularly while navigating changing circumstances or seasons of decision making.
If you or someone you love could use some help getting unblocked for any of these reasons (or others you think of), send them my way. I’d be happy to partner in removing these blocks and moving into new opportunities.
