Notes from the Week - Week 26
The Sky is Falling...at least that's what it felt like this week.
Whew buddy…this was a rough week in so many ways.
On the personal front, my old man cat (Malcolm) and I both had some health stuff this week that stole most of the show for the first couple days of the week. We are both okay now…thank goodness. But a week with this sort of stuff really puts into perspective how lucky those of us are that are basically healthy day in and day out.
One thing that can really steal our health and well-being is stress…so if you haven’t yet, take a peak at this little post on that topic. And when you do suffer from illness or stress, or dealing with change of any kind, don’t forget to offer yourself some real self-compassion.
Meanwhile…SCOTUS was busy taking away people’s rights and a couple of idiots continued to talk about fighting each other in a literal cage match. I can’t say it enough…this cage match talk between Musk and Zuckerberg feels like the ultimate statement on the state of the tech world today. I feel like their behavior validates everything women and people of color have tried to bring to light about an industry run in large part by privileged white man-babies. I mean…even Elon’s Mommy told him he shouldn’t be fighting on the playground.
Maybe instead she and his crazy father could have raised a better human. In the meantime, might I offer an alternative to the stupidity. Help my friend Henk and I raise money for Girls Who Code.
One leader…albeit fictional…who is nothing like these two is the amazing Ted Lasso. This show was star of my “Watchlist Wednesday” post this week. In the face of so much idiocy and narcissism, Ted and the Richmond leadership team are a good reminder that there is fun and good in the world if we #believe.
And if you want to do a little work on yourself in order to be a better leader, parent, friend, or human I suggest you join in on my July Book Club read of Don Miguel Ruiz’ classic The Four Agreements. You have until Thursday to read the Intro and Chapter 1 and ask me any questions or share topics you want me to discuss on the Friday Instagram Live. You can also sign up for the Online Book Club on July 28th. Give yourself permission to take this time and read this book!
Until then…check out this super cute picture of the best dog in the whole entire world with the best cat in the whole entire world. Sandia lit up our lives and was a friend to everyone who loved my sister. If Kelly loved you, then Sandia assumed you were okay and would look at you with her sweet eyes, even if you were a cat. After 14 years of deep love, she will be missed by those who knew her. Thanks for being such a good girl!
