This morning when I sat down to do some journaling I thought (for the 37th time), I need to update my newsletter. And STILL I was surprised to find that when I logged in I hadn't written a newsletter since March.
It's mid-July…and I think I lost April, May, and June.
They aren't really lost months. The world still turned. The sun still shone. Babies were born. Vaccinations were given. And I did lots of breathing to get through the hard days and lots of laughing to enjoy the best days.
Since I mentioned babies being born…take a look at this cutie! This is my nephew's baby girl, who happened to have been called Pancake long before she was born and has kept the name intact as she's grown. She was born during the lost months (April 10th) and pictures of her have taken up a lot of my sister and my message time…to my great joy.
Professionally things are going well. I think during the lost months I was given a new title…Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO). This title is a mouthful and even the abbreviation comes out sounding like C3PO…but I'm proud and happy to continue to be part of the executive team at Tourlane.
My team has been through a lot of change in Q1 and Q2, but despite how hard that has been I really think we are rebuilding the team stronger than ever before. Sometimes it is just time for change and I think the pandemic and my change in leadership style signalled the start of something new in our focus and vision for providing the best experience in travel.
I also got to speak at some cool events:
Mobile.de Diversity & Inclusion Lunch Series
Mastercard's Women Driving Inclusive Innovation
Netguru's Summer Party (topic: product mindset)
And a few other happenings:
I went out to the countryside with Björn to see our sweet Fredi
I had dinner with Hiresh, Nir, and Lital
Ate all the hummus and drank all the beer with the Tourlane executive team
Started going back to the nail salon (Hallelujah!)
Listened to poetry from the one and only David Whyte
And said "so long for now” to my favorite Australians and my Pandemic Family Andrew and Millie
And because I always share…here are some of the best books I read during the lost months…
A little advice for the lost months…
-Listen to your body
- Drink lots of water
- Sleep extra
- Take hugs where you can get them
- Laugh as much as you can
xo,
Leah
PS - Thanks for your patience with my silence. I promise I'm back. ;)
