My first couple of cars were real beaters. I often planned my route around Albuquerque based on where it would be easiest to pull over when (not if) my car broke down. (Tips: Don’t drive on Montano to get to the west side…nowhere on the bridge to pull over. Try to make it past that stretch of Paseo where there is no real shoulder. Better yet go I-40 to Unser…but remember your towing fee will be higher from out there!)
Then I bought the best little Green Nissan 200SX. I loved that little car and it didn’t break down (except when I ran it into the back of a lady on the way to Tim and Cheryl’s…but that wasn’t a break down and I digress!) I later sold that car to my nephew for $1 and he continued to drive the hell out of it.
Once I had that little green car, I saw the same make and model everywhere. FOR YEARS! I once even took a picture of one in Seattle and sent it to my family years after I no longer had that car and had driven two different brand new Jeep Wranglers.
I call it the “Green Nissan Effect”…because once something is familiar you see it everywhere. For me this is what lies at the heart of setting resolutions, intentions, and believing in manifestation.
What you turn your attention to, shows up. A lot!
The way that manifestation is often talked about makes it sound extra mystical with a side of “woo woo” but the fact is, the brain seeks the familiar and wants so much to save energy by creating habits and asking you to stick with them.
Fast forward to my 2024 Goals and Manifestations…I have 5 sentences that I recite and think about 3 times a day. When I first started I thought I’d never be able to do it, and yet I can tell you I’m on a 10 day streak of reciting them ever since I settled on the sentences themselves and got the wording exactly right for me.
Each day, I take a deep breath and then recite these sentences, bringing to mind the goals I have for myself for this year and the outcomes I would like to have by the end of the year…including more financial freedom, better health, and deeper relationships. But the point of this is that it doesn’t stop with saying them out loud and then magical thinking…my brain is already noticing positive reinforcements that are showing up.
When I choose to drink more water because this a how I intend to get to part of my health goals
When I tidy up my kitchen each night before bed because I want to have a more organized life each day
When I hop on a call with an old friend (Hi Becks!) and realize that the community I want to manifest is right in front of me begging to be reengaged
I don’t know if there are little Green Nissans in London but I half expect to walk outside and see one. Just like I expect to see the changes in my life this year that will improve my life in positive ways.
