For the first time in years, I did absolutely nothing to mark January 1st as the start of a new year. No vision board. No goal setting. Definitely no resolutions. Because this year, I finally admitted what I’ve always felt deep down... our so-called New Year arrives right in the middle of winter, when the world (at least the northern hemisphere) is still sleeping.
Nature knows what we so often forget: winter is for rest.
For gathering energy, for quiet reflection, for slowing down. So instead of forcing myself into action while the world outside was still frozen, I honored the season. So now we step into the Spring Equinox, a moment of perfect balance between light and dark. And I feel ready to step forward too.
A New Year in Perfect Balance
The Equinox is a rare day when light and darkness hold equal space... a cosmic reset before we fully tip into the longer, brighter days ahead. And isn’t that what a true New Year should feel like? A pause between what was and what’s next... a moment to set intentions not in the haze of exhaustion, but in the energy of renewal.
So this week, my new year planning begins. My vision board will finally get some love this weekend. My goal planning is underway... not with rigid resolutions, but with a sense of hope and clarity about where I want to grow next.
Hope and a Plan
Hope alone isn’t a strategy. But rigid planning isn’t either. So instead, I’ve built a way of planning that works for me... one that balances structure and flow, ambition and self-compassion. Here’s what that looks like:
Affirmations – Speaking my intentions into existence, shaping my mindset, and reminding myself of where I’m headed.
Journaling – Reflection is everything. Writing brings clarity, reveals patterns, and helps me see the shifts I need to make.
Great Coaching – Whether it’s working with my own coach or supporting my clients, coaching keeps me aligned and moving forward.
Finding My Own Balance – My version of balance wouldn’t work for someone else, and theirs wouldn’t work for me. The key is to build a rhythm that feels sustainable, energizing, and uniquely yours.
As we step into this true new year, I invite you to ask yourself:
What does balance look like for you?
What new beginnings feel aligned with this moment?
How can you honor both the light and the dark as you move forward?
If you’re looking for guidance, I’d love to help. Whether it’s coaching with me or connecting you with one of my amazing coach friends who might be the perfect fit, let’s make sure you step into this new season with hope and a plan.
Here’s to the real new year. Here’s to Spring. 🌸
