Movember Real Talk Recap - Leah Farmer

"I Didn’t Grow a Mustache, But I Did Start Some Brave Conversations"

This Movember, I didn’t grow a mustache, but I did spend the month interviewing 17 incredible men about mental health, vulnerability, and the challenges they face. What I learned changed me:

  • Men face significant stigma. Many struggle to discuss emotions and mental health, feeling unsupported and isolated.

  • Safe spaces matter. Men need environments where they can share openly without fear of judgment.

  • Patriarchy harms everyone. It isolates men, forces them into harmful roles, and perpetuates violence against women.

  • Curiosity and empathy build bridges. Asking better questions and listening deeply can foster connection and change.

  • Conversations drive action. When men open up, they inspire others to challenge harmful norms and build healthier relationships.

I’m profoundly grateful to the men who joined me for these brave discussions and to everyone who supported this series. These conversations reminded me that vulnerability isn’t weakness—it’s where change begins.

Let’s keep talking, listening, and growing—together.

Much love,
Leah
